her prayers. Hildegard Nies gave me permission to use this prayer for one of my texts. It is with deep re-

You wanted to meet me
And I didn’t recognize you
Perhaps because I thought
I knew how it was to meet you
But it was totally different
It was unlike anything I have ever known
Open my heart
For further meetings with you
Touch my skin so I can feel you
In my helplessness in my doubt
In my love, in my fear
I, who have not heard a voice in so long
Only my own
I thank you, Jesus, who have brought light
Into my life once again
It was your attempt at resuscitation
That allowed me to breathe again
You carried me through the night
When I lay there unconscious
When I could not go on
You gave me the dream
Of a new world
You showed me my true temple
Where I can always find you
You are no longer concealed from me
Now let us go hand in hand
